Receipt Printers
On the most basic level, a receipt printer prints out a record of what has been entered into a computer regarding a sale. But a receipt printer can also serve as an advertising tool. A receipt printer is one piece of equipment that provides your customer with a written reminder of their transaction with you. With it, you can provide information detailing the exchange of goods, services and payment. The receipt also serves as a reminder to the customer of their experience with your business. Clarity, accuracy, completeness, and maybe even a bit of personality are key components to a great receipt. Receipts are created by receipt printers. Production factors vary with these printers: print speed, footprint size, color print options, portability, receipt cutter design, and duplicate receipt print capability. Technology varies as well, including print head design. Direct thermal technology uses coated paper activated by heat from the printer head to form an image. Impact printers are not temperature sensitive and use ink ribbons to print with. Ink Jet printers can be used to customize receipts since they can print in two colors. Some POS printers offer multiple functions such as check endorsement, MICR font reading, receipt printing, and slip printing. Some offer portability, running on rechargeable batteries and connected by wireless technology or connecting directly to PDA type of equipment.
