Product Description

The Omni reader is originally designed for the demanding Access Control and Time & Attendance markets. Its die cast metal base, stainless steel wear plate, and impact-resistant housing make Omni ideal for the growing market of self-service and un-attended applications. The Omni reads up to three tracks of magnetic information with a single swipe in either direction.

Omni reads most bar code symbologies; either visible or infrared bar code data and/or MagStripe data, both in a single swipe. It has a beeper and three-color LED indicator to signal a successful read. The reader is programmable so that the data format and intelligent interface output can be programmed & configured to match application communication requirements.

The cost of printing barcoded ID cards is less than the cost of preparing cards with magnetic stripes. This is a significant in applications where a small quantity of cards are involved, or a "throw-away" card is used.

When deciding between a visible red and infrared light source, consider the likely applications. The red light source (660 nm) is particularly used for reading thermal printed codes or colored codes. The infrared light source (930 nm) can be used in applications where the code is hidden by a security  overlay that prevents label duplication.

The visible red models will read codes printed in either black or color inks (except red), or non-carbon based inks. The infrared model will read codes printed in black carbon based inks, and also codes with infrared transparent security overlays.
